Put Estate Planning Procrastination Behind You in 2013

February 28, 2013 by Augusta P. Kuhn

Every time a new year rolls around people decide to take certain positive steps as they experience a sense of renewal. With this in mind we would like to encourage anyone who is going forward without an estate plan to make this the year that you finally take the appropriate actions.

It does not take much to arrange for a consultation with an estate planning attorney. The investment that you make in the present can save your family members a lot of time, trouble, and money later on.

A lot of people who are unprepared are not of the mind that estate planning is unimportant. They know they should have a plan in place, but they fall victim to a pattern of procrastination.

Nobody is perfect, and we all may kick some responsibilities down the road a bit from time to time. However, estate planning is an absolute must, and you have to put the procrastination behind you at some point. Why not make 2013 the year that you give yourself some peace of mind?

While you are at it you may want to discuss a broader, holistic financial plan with your attorney. If you work within a cogent framework throughout your life you will make sound financial decisions that set you up for retirement. Subsequently, you will have accumulated the resources that you need to be able to leave behind a suitable legacy for the well-being of your children and grandchildren.

Start this year off on the right foot and discuss your future with a good estate planning lawyer. And if you already have a plan in place, consult with your attorney to make sure that everything is up-to-date.
